The Women In Trucking Association recently announced its 2023 Top Women to Watch in Transportation, which includes TransForce’s Regional Vice President of the Western Territory, Lisa Mitchell, for her outstanding contributions to the transportation industry.

Lisa has been a devoted and passionate leader with TransForce for over 20 years. During her time with the company, she has consistently demonstrated her commitment to uncovering solutions that benefit carriers and drivers.

TransForce Welcomes Derek Yung as New Chief Financial Officer

Alexandria, VA – TransForce, a recognized leader in the transportation and logistics industry, announced today that Derek Yung has joined the company as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Yung joins TransForce from Wine.com, the nation’s leading online wine retailer, where he served as CFO.

Yung has over 15 years of executive-level experience in high-tech, high-growth companies in both the public and private sectors, and has a strong track record of leading c-level initiatives, developing finance teams, and leading corporate strategy development and implementation. With a long history of impactful CFO roles, Derek has also worked with eHealth, an omnichannel health insurance marketplace, and Hotwire of Expedia Group, one of the most recognizable online travel agency brands. He has also held CFO and senior finance roles with Nextag and LeapFrog Enterprises. In his new role at TransForce, Derek will serve as a strategic partner to the executive leadership team and oversee all finance functions for the company.

TransForce Announces AB5 Dedicated Solutions Program for Motor Carriers

TransForce hires independent contractor drivers as employees; relieves burden for carriers

ALEXANDRIA, VA – TransForce, a leading provider of innovative driver shortage solutions, today announced a program for carriers that relieves the burden and cost of hiring their independent contractor drivers.

With TransForce Managed Workforce Solutions, carriers can transition contractor-based driving operations to a W-2 workforce model supported by TransForce in response to California Assembly Bill 5 (AB 5). Drivers are employed by TransForce and dedicated to a specific carrier, helping reduce classification-related risk while maintaining operational continuity.

This approach also allows drivers to continue operating their own equipment while working as TransForce employees.

Passed into law in 2019, AB5 is a law that restricts businesses from classifying workers as independent contractors, forcing companies to shift classification of these workers to employees. On June 30^th, 2022, the injunction protecting owner operators and the motor carriers who utilize them was lifted. From this day forth in California, motor carriers must comply with AB5 law or risk costly penalties up to $25,000 per infraction.

AB5 unintentionally affects independent contractor truck drivers in California by making it difficult, if not impossible, for them to work for themselves. As a result, motor carriers must now evaluate their existing business model to ensure they are compliant in how they employ these owner operators.

The TransForce AB5 Dedicated Solutions Program transitions a motor carrier's independent contractors to full-time TransForce drivers dedicated to that carrier's company. TransForce hires the independent contractors as TransForce employees, which means the company handles everything from ongoing recruitment, payroll, and benefits, to risk and safety management. TransForce provides only the safest, most qualified drivers, and the company maintains Driver DQ files to ensure each carrier client meets DOT and FMCSA regulations. In addition, when a carrier’s owner operators become TransForce employees, the company also assumes responsibility for workers’ compensation and unemployment insurance.

TransForce Group Appoints John Gleason as Chief Revenue Officer; Theresa Russel as SVP, Inside Sales & Sales Enablement

ALEXANDRIA, VA – TransForce Group announced that they have added two new leaders to their sales team. John Gleason joins as Chief Revenue Officer and Theresa Russel is named SVP, Inside Sales & Sales Enablement. Both of these roles are newly created by the company.

Gleason comes to TransForce Group from Ryder System, Inc. where he most recently served as Chief Sales Officer. With the company for more than 12 years, John was responsible for the strategy and execution of all sales activities for more than 650 sales associates, over three division and international operations. John has also held the Chief Sales Officer role at ADP, a technology platform for payroll services, and has served as SVP, Sales for ADP Dealer Services, a SaaS company for auto-manufacturers. As Chief Revenue Officer of TransForce Group, he will oversee Customer Success, Field Sales, Business Development, Inside Sales and Sales Enablement.

Theresa Russel comes to TransForce Group as SVP, Inside Sales and Sales Enablement, where she will be a key member of Gleason's sales leadership team. Russel was most recently with Dealer Socket where she led their North American Sales Enablement and Sales Development Teams. Prior to Dealer Socket, she led the Major Market Inside Sales Team for Ultimate Software in North America, and served as the VP of Learning and Performance for CDK Global, formerly ADP Dealer Services. Russel led the development and delivery of innovative and transformational learning for over 26,000 clients and 8,000 associates globally, and has consistently delivered double-digit sales growth in every role she held. In her new position she will apply her knowledge to align and empower theTransForce sales team.
